Correspondence between Henry Drinker and Elizabeth, his wife, relates to his arrest, imprisonment, and resulting forced exile to Winchester, Virginia during the American Revolution. His letters discuss his physical and spiritual well-being, concern for his children, news of other exiled Friends, and efforts to present their case before Pennsylvanian and Virginian authorities. Elizabeth Drinker's letters to her husband relate family and neighborhood news, Friends' visits, efforts on behalf of the exiles, and her constant concern for her husband.

Abstract:
Letters of John Ewer, located in London, to Owen Biddle (1737-1799), located in Philadelphia. Ewer was supplying Biddle, a Philadelphian merchant, with fabric of various kinds and patterns. Most of the letters deal with the shipping of this merchandise to Biddle and its payment. There are references to the increasing difficulties between Great Britain and the British colonies that would become the United States in Ewer's letters of 1775-1776.

Josiah White was a 19th-century engineer and the inventor of a method to bring coal down the Lehigh River, a tributary of the Delaware River in Pennsylvania. He was also heavily involved in the education of many among America's less privileged, establishing a number of manual labor schools in the Midwest. The collection includes White's business and personal papers, as well as the papers of Hannah White Richardson and Rebecca White, his daughters, whose interests included religious and community affairs.

David Backon kept a journal during his time with the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confderacy) in 1974. Entries describe Bacon's journey to the Haudenosaunee territory, and interactions between himself and the members of the Haudenosaunee, as well as discussions between representatives from the United States and Six Nations governments concerning the treaty that was to determine the land rights of the Haudenosaunee after the end of the Revolutionary War. Bacon also includes his accounts of speeches given by both United States representatives and Six Nation chiefs, including Cornplanter (Gaiänt'wakê) and Red Jacket (Sagoyewatha).
