Abstract:: Dorothy Gladden Harris (1902-1972), Quaker librarian, archivist, scientific illustrator, was a librarian and archivist at Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College and a researcher in Quaker history. This collection contains correspondence, articles, scientific drawings, and course, research, and reference notes relating to Dorothy Harris's activities as librarian and archivist at Friends Historical Library and as a Quaker researcher. Includes correspondence relating to her work in London, England, as part of an exchange of Quaker librarians in 1947.

Abstract:: Mary Sullivan Patterson (1906-1987) was a Quaker historian and genealogist from Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. The collection contains family papers and correspondence; genealogical notes on the Thomson, Sullivan, and other related families; writings on various topics, especially Delaware County history and the Caleb Pusey House; diaries, notes, correspondence, and a manuscript concerning Patterson's 1957 research trip to England to study Quaker emigration to America. Sharpless family letterbook, 1883

Abstract:: The personal correspondence included in the Sharpless family letterbook acted as a circulating "family letter," and was added to by each family member with the goal of assembling the letters at the end of the year and binding them together for the use of future generations. Letters generally provide news of each letter writer, as well as comments on past letters. Letter writers include Susanna F. Sharpless, Edith Sharpless, Thomas Sharpless, Elizabeth S. Smedley, Ann Sharpless, William Sharpless, and Susanna Sharpless.

Abstract:: Henry Simmons, who belonged to the Middletown Monthly Meeting, spent a year with the Seneca near Cornplanter's village along with Halliday Jackson and Joel Swayne. There, the group of missionaries set up a school and model farm. Simmons's letterbooks are comprised of business and government correspondence related to his work with various Indigenous nations.
