Abstract:

Isaac Hacker was a Quaker school administrator in Salem, Massachusetts. His diary entries describe the weather, attendance at Quaker Meetings, social calls from friends and family, and births, deaths, and marriages within the Quaker community.

Isaac Hacker (1750-1818) was born circa 1750, in Salem, Massachusetts. Hacker was a school administrator in Salem, and a Quaker. In April of 1774, he married Anna Estes. The couple had ten children:

Lydia Chase (February 20, 1775), Rebecca Hacker (February 1, 1777), Hannah Hacker (October 21, 1779), Isaac Hacker (February 12, 1782), William Estes Hacker (August 2, 1784), Isaiah Hacker (April 13, 1787), Springet Penn Hacker (April 18, 1790), Hannah Hacker (July 5, 1792), Elizabeth Hacker (April 24, 1795), and Jeremiah Hacker (July 12, 1799).

Hacker died in September, 1818, at the age of 68.

This collection is comprised of three bound, handwritten volumes of Isaac Hacker's diaries. Entries describe the weather, attendance at Quaker Meetings, social calls from friends and family, and births, deaths, and marriages within the Quaker community.
