Overview and metadata sections

Mary Ann Lloyd (1797-1872) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, circa 1797, the daughter of Sarah and Thomas Lloyd. She died circa 1872 in Philadelphia.

Daniel Wheeler (1771-1840) was an English Quaker traveler and farmer. He spent many years in Russia, with his wife, Jane, and their children, clearing the swampland around St. Petersburg. He also sailed to the South Seas, following a religious calling.

This collection is comprised of the single volume letterbook of Mary Ann Lloyd and includes correspondence between Daniel Wheeler and his daughter Jane Wheeler, as well as a copy of a letter from Daniel Wheeler to Elias Yarnall, dated 1840.

The Mary Ann Lloyd letterbook was donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in 1942 by William L. Baily.
