This collection is comprised of the single volume handwritten manuscript of Joseph Hoag's journal and correspondence related to the item's donation.

"Lays of Quakerdom", Undated.

Abstract:

Ruth Plumley's "Lays of Quakerdom" include three sections: "The Execution of Mary Dyer," "Visit of Mary Fisher to the Sultan Mohammed IV," and "James Parnell, the Quaker Proto-Martyr." Each section includes a brief historical summary of each individual, and a narrative poem about each individual. The "Lays" describe the piety of three icons of 17th century Quakerism. The "Lays of Quakerdom" was first published in the "Knickerbocker" magazine during the years 1853-1855, and were later published as a single volume by the Biddle Press in Philadelphia. This volume is a handwritten copy of the single published volume.

This collection is comprised of the two volume manuscript by Peter P. and Elizabeth W. Jonitis, entitled "Memoirs of the Prison Society: Biographical Vignettes of the Managers of the Philadelphia Society for Assisting Distressed Prisoners and the Members of the Philadelphia Society for Alleviating the Miseries of Public Prisons, 1787-1830." The biographical sketches were compiled in order to determine how many of the 344 members of the organizations were Quakers, so as to study Quaker contributions to early prison reform in the United States.

The newspaper Bucks County Gazette began publication in 1948, became the New Hope Gazette in 1976, and still publishes articles as part of the Bucks Local News network (as of 2013). The "New Hope Gazette" photographs and subject files, circa 1960-1996, consist primarily of photographs from the files of the newspaper offices, depicting people in alphabetically-arranged files. There are also some subject files on events, artists, buildings, schools, and other topics, containing additional photographs as well as clippings, pamphlets and ephemera, and other miscellaneous documents.

The paper now exists as part of the Montgomery Media conglomerate as the Perkasie News-Herald. The News Herald photographs and negatives, 1982-2001, consist of photographic prints and negatives taken by reporters and photographers working for the newspaper. The images document local people, structures, and events.
