Abstract:
The Peace Action Center began in 1961 as a continuation of the vigil at Fort Detrick, Md. Peace activists had sponsored a continuous vigil as early as 1959 seeking the abandonment of biological weapons and appealed for the conversion of the fort into a world health center. The Peace Action Center included cooperative living quarters for the staff of religious pacifists, mostly Quakers. PAC staff including Lawrence Scott, director, and Jack L. Bagley, Sarah Bishop, Florence Y. Carpenter, Bertha Faust, William R. Martin, Gelston McNeil, and Patricia Parkman. The PAC disbanded in the fall 1963.

Records of the Conservative (Wilburite) branch of Hector Monthly Meeting and its predecessor, the pre-schism Orthodox Meeting, including the minutes of both the Otisites and Kingites. Includes: Minutes (men's, women's, and joint), 1830-1950, registers of membership, 1756-1965, the minutes of the Meeting of Ministers & Elders, 1830-1863, Library record, 1860, Publishing Proposal 1824, and Correspondence 1828 and 1923.

Pearl S. Buck letters to Mary Carolyn Dobbs, 1951-1965 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Mary Carolyn Dobbs (1911-2011) was a teacher and pioneer in the field of special education, responsible for several significant improvements in classrooms for children with disabilities and their teachers at the state and national levels. She corresponded with Pearl S. Buck, who shared Dobbs' concern for children with disabilities, and whose own daughter, Carol Buck (1920-1992), had been diagnosed with an intellectual disability. Dobbs visited Buck in Perkasie, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1951. The Pearl S. Buck letters to Mary Carolyn Dobbs, 1951-1965, consist of fifteen signed letters from Pearl S. Buck to Carolyn Dobbs and a typed draft of an article published in the California mental health newsletter The Pointer with handwritten corrections by Pearl S. Buck.

Christine Shearer and Irma Schultz scrapbooks, 1935-1965 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Christine Shearer (1884-1968) of Worcester, Pennsylvania began entering jingle-writing contests in the 1930s, and continued to enter and win such contests for over 25 years. Mrs. Shearer was active with the local Ladies' Aid Society, serving as its president. Her sister Irma Schultz also entered jingle-writing contests, although not as frequently. The Christine Shearer and Irma Schultz scrapbooks, 1935-1965, are comprised of scrapbooks created by Shearer and Schultz. The bulk consist of newspaper clippings, but of special interest are three scrapbooks which document the women's jingle-writing hobby.
