Overview and metadata sections

The Brotherhood Cooperative was founded in 1940, by several staff members of the American Friends Service Committee, who were friends with low-incomes and with no place to live. They found a house in North Philadelphia to rent, which they cleaned up, added more housemates, and eventually purchased the house. The Cooperative dissolved in 1964.

This collection contains historical information about the Brotherhood Cooperative, including articles of incorporation, minutes of meetings, deed and purchase papers, and information about its dissolution.

The Brotherhood Cooperative records were presented to Special Collections, Haverford College in 1972 by the American Friends Service Committee.
