Abstract:: Samuel Hazard (1784-1870) was a prominent Philadelphia historian who studied the early records of colonial Pennsylvania and also collected engravings, prints, and ephemera documenting comtemporary Pennsylvania and Philadelphia. This collection consists of his scrapbook of material relating to the history of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania as well as a number of loose documents that may have been intended for the scrapbook or interleaved therein.

Unattributed sermons, 1850-1879 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This collection consists primarily of sermons by an unidentified author who may have lived in Pennsylvania or New Jersey around the time of the Civil War. The sermons appear to have been delivered between 1850 and 1879 and, apart from a few that seem to be from a collection entitled "Lectures on the Shorter Catechism," seem unconnected and cover many diverse topics based on Bible verses identified in the title of each file.

Roberta M. West collection, 1886-1937

Abstract:: The collection consists of material compiled and used by Miss West and the History Committee for the writing of the History of Nursing in Pennsylvania. It contains a large amount of data about nurses' training and practice from hospitals all over the state. It also contains original documents of the Graduate Nurses' Association of the State of Pennsylvania in its formative years.

Madalon Amenta papers, 1928-2015

Abstract:: Madalon Amenta is a leader in hospice care and practice. She found the Pennsylvania Hospice Network, be a founding member of the Hospice Nurse Association, and was active in many other organizations, including the (then) National Hospice Organization. These papers document Amenta’s research, consultative and speaking engagements, and her involvement with professional organizations.

This collection contains the typescript for John Bidwell's 1988 Rosenbach Lecture, titled "Papermaking in the Delaware Valley at the end of the 18th & the beginning of the 19th century."
