Abstract:
Montgomery County, situated in southeastern Pennsylvania and established in 1784 out of the western portion of Philadelphia County, has played an important role in U.S. history. Since its founding, it has experienced "booming industry and manufacturing, rich farm fields, advanced transportation, artistic endeavors and unique religious beliefs." The Old York Road Historical Society vertical files, circa 1890-2013, consist largely of copy and original newspaper clippings, pamphlets, mailings, ephemera, amateur historian and academic history articles, and a small amount of original manuscripts. It is organized into several series: People, General area, Municipalities (mostly eastern Montgomery County), and Areas outside coverage (such as Bucks County and Philadelphia).

The history of the area of eastern Montgomery County has been documented significantly through the collecting efforts of the Old York Road Historical Society. Charles Holt (1821-1892) was a farmer in what is now Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The Holt family papers, 1843-1897, include a diary begun in 1855 and continued by Holt's daughter until 1893. There are also account books and a recipe book of cures.

Abington Library Society miscellaneous records, 1803-1988 (inclusive)

The Abington Library Society was established in 1803 as a subscription library. In 1908 it purchased the Jenkinstown Lyceum building on Old York Road and, after major remodeling, opened its doors there in 1910. The Abington Library Society continues as the governing body of the Jenkintown Library, still located in the 1910 building as of 2015. The Abington Library Society miscellaneous records, 1803-1988, include extracts of minutes, financial records, and records of books.

Founded in 1867, the Abington Building Association joined the Federal Home Loan Bank system in 1933 and met the requirements of the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation in 1941. Cheltenham United Methodist Church records, 1871-1998 (inclusive)

The first Methodist church in Cheltenham, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was built with funds donated by Thomas Rowland in 1845. In 2008 Cheltenham United Methodist Church merged into Fox Chase United Methodist Church. The Cheltenham United Methodist Church records, 1871-1998, consist of administrative and financial records of Cheltenham United Methodist Church, as well as materials from ladies auxiliary groups, the Sunday School, and other miscellaneous records.
