Abstract:
Charles E. Chatfield was professor of history at Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio), from 1961-1999. Chatfield was an authority on peace history and international affairs, and has written or edited numerous books and articles on peace and antiwar movements, including Peace/MIR a collaborative effort between U.S. and Soviet academics. Chatfield taught courses at Wittenberg that focused on historical methodology and on U.S. progressive, urban and diplomatic history. He also directed the institution's International Education program and organized and directed the "Global Issues and World Churches" study abroad program. Chatfield was a founder of the Peace History Society (formerly the Council on Peace Research in History), and has been especially influential in creating ties between U.S., European, and Soviet historians of peace and international relations. Charles Chatfield died on January 15, 2015.

The Hague Appeal for Peace is an organization with a global campaign to create a "culture of peace" through the following means: by strengthening humanitarian and human rights laws and institutions, by advancing the prevention, peaceful resolution, and transformation of conflicts, by abolishing nuclear weapons and develop disarmament campaigns, and identifying the root causes of war. More than 800 organizations--human rights, environmental, gender, disarmament-- have endorsed the HAP campaign.

Was founded in 1970 "to foster research and education in the areas of peace and conflict resolution" as a nonprofit educational organization with both institutional and individual members; goal was to facilitate communication among those engaged in peace studies, peace education, and policy research; provided publications, resources, and consulting services, and sponsors conferences and workshops; in 2002, merged with the Peace Studies Association to form the Peace and Justice Studies Association.

New Call to Peacemaking Records, 1976-1983 (inclusive)

Abstract:
New Call to Peacemaking began as a cooperative effort of Brethren, Quakers and Mennonites. It was founded in 1975 to reinvigorate the understanding of and commitment to nonviolence and peacemaking within those faith communities. After 1982, a decision was made to shift the direction of New Call from revitalizing the peace testimony within the historic peace churches to more contact and relationship with other Christian groups open to the search for a more faithful peace witness.

Fannie Fern Andrews Collected Papers, 1906-1940; 1997 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Fannie Fern Phillips Andrews founded the American School Peace League (which changed its name to the American School Citizenship League in 1919). She was also a founding member of the Woman's Peace Party, and was one of the delegates to the International Committee of the International Congress of Women at The Hague in 1915. She was appointed by President Roosevelt to serve as a delegate to international conferences on education in 1934 and 1936.
