Abstract:
Kiwanis Club is an international, co-educational service club founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan, which commits volunteer hours to serve children and strengthen communities. The Kiwanis club of Jenkintown was chartered in 1949 through the sponsorship of the Kiwanis Club of Glenside. The Kiwanis Club of Jenkintown records are a gift of the club, consisting of 13 linear feet of material housed in 32 boxes. The collection spans from 1949 to 2014 and comprises chronological files, administrative records, financial, and membership records, as well as publications and memorabilia.

The League of Women Voters (LWV) was established in 1919 to help educate women on the civic responsibilities of voting. The Abington-Cheltenham-Jenkintown branch, still active as of 2013, was established in 1951 and expanded in 1959. The League of Women Voters of Abington-Cheltenham-Jenkintown records, 1952-2009, include newsletters, minutes, programs, photographs, articles (clippings), government directories, correspondence, bylaws, membership directories, board meeting agendas and minutes.

Lillian Rankin papers, circa 1960-2005

Abstract:
Lillian Bassett Rankin (nee Stringfellow) was born in 1913 and died in 2009. A graduate of Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and later a teacher there, Rankin lived most of her life in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. A large proportion of the Lillian Rankin papers, circa 1960-2005, consists of photographs and slides. The collection also contains a sizeable amount of her notebooks and writings, and a small amount of financial records, correspondence, and Beaver College/Arcadia University alumni ephemera.

Montgomery County, situated in southeastern Pennsylvania and established in 1784 out of the western portion of Philadelphia County, has played an important role in U.S. history. Since its founding, it has experienced "booming industry and manufacturing, rich farm fields, advanced transportation, artistic endeavors and unique religious beliefs." The history of the area of eastern Montgomery County has been documented significantly through the collecting efforts of the Old York Road Historical Society. The Old York Road Historical Society scrapbooks collection, 1890-2000, includes scrapbooks created by the Society and created by others that principally cover eastern Montgomery County.

The R. B. Ball and Company, Inc. was incorporated in 1976 as Ball and Coffin, Inc., but changed its name in 1978. R. B. Ball and Company, Inc. sold and rented residential and commercial properties in the Jenkintown area and managed the Valleybrook Apartments. The R. B. Ball and Company, Inc. records, circa 1940-1996, are comprised of the files of Robert E. Murray, President of the Board of Directors and sales manager. The records include minutes and financial records.

The Old York Road Woman’s Exchange was a non-profit consignment store that was established to "help others to help themselves." It opened in Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1932 and closed in 1996. The Old York Road Woman’s Exchange records, 1932-1995, consist largely of minutes that span nearly its entire existence (1932-1994), with several volumes of account books, a consigners’ book, a scrapbook, and a scattering of clippings and other memorabilia. The Old York Road Woman's Exchange was a charter member of the Federation of Woman's Exchanges, and this collection also includes several decades of the Federation’s annual meeting packets.

The Jenkintown Businessmen's Association was established in 1933. Over the next several years the organization changed its name a number of times. In 1961 the group became known as the Jenkintown Chamber of Commerce. The organization marked its expanding geographical interests when it renamed itself the Greater Jenkintown Chamber of Commerce in 1968 and then the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce in 1992. The Greater Jenkintown Chamber of Commerce records, 1962-1994, consist of Board of Directors minutes and other materials relating to the activities of the organization.
