Abstract:

In 1715, the Crooked Billet Inn was built by John Dawson in what is now known as Hatboro Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It was a farming village that boasted one of the first rural libraries in Pennsylvania, the Union Library Company. The Millbrook Society vertical files, circa 1855-2011, is made up of materials collected and created by the Millbrook Society. The majority of files relate to local history topics, such as specific businesses and schools. Document types represented throughout the collection include newspaper clippings, photocopies of manuscript materials, pamphlets, programs, yearbooks, school ephemera, and some original manuscript materials (most of which are receipts).

Abstract:

Charles Harper Smith was a historian, teacher, and author best known for his books The Settlement of Horsham Township and Land Tenure of Colonial Hatboro. Smith lived in Hatboro, a suburb of Philadelphia, and was involved in community activism. The Charles Harper Smith collection, 1922-1985, consists of research materials collected by Smith while he was working on his books. In addition to Smith's research notes and handwritten copies of historic documents, his papers include some newspaper clippings, photographs, personal correspondence (circa 1935-1945), and maps.

Montgomery Elementary School is part of the North Wales School District in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and serves families in Montgomery Township. A Parent Teacher Association, later known as a Home and School Association, exists to improve communication between home and school by providing a link between parents and administrators. The bulk of the Montgomery Township Parent Teacher Association records, 1951-1978, is scrapbooks dating from 1951 to 1962. The remainder of the collection consists of printed pamphlets and ephemera, newspaper clippings, and financial records and minutes.

Concord Flour Mills records, 1867-1941 (inclusive)

Abstract:

Newlin Grist Mill was built in Delaware County, Pennsylvania in 1704 by Nathaniel Newlin. After changing hands and changing names several times, it was acquired by Samuel N. Hill, who operated it as Concord Flour Mills. Concord Flour Mills ceased operations in 1943, and subsequently reopened as an historic site around 1960. The Concord Flour Mills records, 1867-1941, consist mostly of financial records of Concord Flour Mills with some scattered Samuel N. Hill papers.

The Newtown Cooperative Association was a farmer's purchasing cooperative, organized in 1922 to gain bulk discounts on supplies for farmers in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It was absorbed in 1968 by Eastern State Farmers Exchange, which merged with Grange League Federation and became Agway. The Newtown Cooperative Association financial ledgers and minute books, 1922-1962, contain about 30 volumes of various financial records and two minute books.

Abstract:

The White Hall Hotel is an historic structure in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The hotel had numerous owners including the Chesner family, who owned and operated the inn for a large part of the 20th century. The building, gutted by fire in 1979, has since been converted into commercial/retail and office space. The White Hall Hotel records, 1897-1956, consist primarily of ledgers with daily accounts, inventory lists, and employee records. Also included in the collection are a scrapbook, ephemera, and guest registers.
