Overview and metadata sections
Montgomery Elementary School is part of the North Wales School District in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and serves families in Montgomery Township. A Home and School Association (previously "Parent Teacher Association") "exists in every school [in the North Penn School District] to provide parents/guardians with the opportunity to work cooperatively with the school in the best interest of the students. Communication between parents and the school is enhanced by the activities of this organization. The organization provides support for quality educational programs and activities. The North Penn Coordinating Council is an umbrella organization of all individual Home and School Associations in the district. Monthly meetings are attended by two representatives from each school plus liaisons from both the Special Education Council and the North Penn Association for Gifted Education. The goal of the council is to improve communication between home and school by providing a link between parents and administrators."

Summary descriptive information on this collection was compiled in 2011-2012 as part of a pilot project conducted by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania to make better known and more accessible the largely hidden collections of small, primarily volunteer run repositories in the Philadelphia area. The Hidden Collections Initiative for Pennsylvania Small Archival Repositories (HCI-PSAR) was funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
