"The Code of Handsome Lake, the Seneca Prophet", 1912 (inclusive)

Abstract:
This collection is comprised of the single volume manuscript "The Code of Handsome Lake, the Seneca Prophet," published by the Education Department Bulletin of the New York State Museum. Handsome Lake's 'Code' attempted to simplify the spiritual practices of the Iroquois, preaching temperance, a strict moral code, and self-determination. It also contains the prophecies of Handsome Lake, who believed the world would end (by fire) in the year 2100. The manuscript also contains descriptions of Iroquois religious rituals and myths at the turn of the 20th century.

Joshua L. Baily account book, 1794-1915 (inclusive)

Abstract:
This volume was originally used as an account book, from 1794 to 1795, and was later repurposed as a diary or timeline of events, dated from 1826 to 1915. The section of the volume that acts as an account book includes an index, in which individuals are organized alphabetically, and entries record amounts paid or owned, the goods purchased, and the currency used. Goods listed are mainly dry goods and lumber, including: flour, "middling" (bulk goods of medium grade), hog feed, cornmeal, buckwheat, rye meal, and wooden boards. The second section of the volume acts as a timeline and diary for Joshua L. Baily. Included are entries concerning current events, such as terms of various presidents, the Orthodox-Hicksite separation, the emergence of the "Mormons" and their migration west, records of correspondence sent and received, and events in the Civil War and World War I.

Speakers' Bureau of the Friends Peace Committee records, 1926-1963 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Speakers' Bureau of the Friends Peace Committee, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting was founded as a volunteer-run sub-committee for the Friends Peace Committee. The Bureau worked with schools, civic groups, service clubs, and church groups, among other organizations interested in "discussing or studying problems of the international order and the strengthening of the peace," according to one of their brochures. This collection is comprised of six volumes of record books for the Speakers' Bureau of the Friends Peace Committee, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Abstract:
photographs document the journey of the T.E.S. Antigua (of the United Fruit Company's Great White Fleet) from a New York harbor to locations in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba; Puerto Barrios, Guatemala; and Puerto Cortés, Honduras. These images include various portraits of the ship's guests and crew and scenic views from the ship. More centrally, the album depicts touristic travels through Central American ports.

Abstract:
This collection is comprised of the single volume letterbook of the Pennsylvania History Press, and includes the business correspondence of the organization. Many of the letters are addressed to various members of the press, including Arthur H. Thomas, Richard T. Cadbury, Rayner W. Kelsey, and Arthur N. Leeds. Pasted into the front cover of the volume is a pamphlet entitled "At the Forks of the Delaware, 1794-1811," published by the Pennsylvania History Press.
