Overview and metadata sections
The Speakers' Bureau of the Friends Peace Committee, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting was founded as a volunteer-run sub-committee for the Friends Peace Committee. It was originally arranged by Elizabeth T. Rhoads, under the Orthodox Peace Committee. The Bureau worked with schools, civic groups, service clubs, and church groups, among other organizations interested in "discussing or studying problems of the international order and the strengthening of the peace," according to one of their brochures. Its tagline was "Informed Speakers on Headline Topics ... A Service for Program Chairmen." Topics they spoke about included: disarmament, war and peace, nonviolent direct action, the peace testimony, and more.
