The Business Problem Group of Philadelphia was part of the Social Order Committee of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, Orthodox whose purpose was to "deal with prblems of the relation between employers and employees. This collection contains three bound volumes of minutes from meetings of the Business Problems Group of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. The group met and had presentations and programs.

Friends' Reading Room Association records, 1835-1886

Abstract:
The Friends' Reading Room Association was founded in 1835, and dissolved in 1842. Its Constitution, included in the minutes, states its purpose: "An Institution in a central part of the city, which shall be furnished with a judcious selection of books, maps and periodical publications, calculated to promote moral and religous improvement, a knowledge of the principles and history of the Society of Friends and an acquiantance with the arts, science and general literature." This volume contains the minutes of the Friends' Reading Room Association, from 1835 - 1842, from the organization of the association, until its resolution and a register of members of the Western District Monthly Meeting, Philadelphia, from 1814 - 1886.

The Dorcassian Society of Burlington, New Jersey was founded in 1839, and appears to have dissolved at the end of the minute book, in 1860. The mission of the Dorcassion Society was to provide relief work to the poor, in particular clothing. This collection is comprised of one volume of minutes and attendence lists from 1843 - 1860.

Lebanon Hospital for Mental Diseases records, 1900-1940 (inclusive) 1922-1932 (bulk)

Abstract:
The Lebanon Hospital for Mental Diseases of Syria (now Lebanon) was founded in 1898 by Theophilus Waldmeier, who spent more than 40 years in Abyssinia and Syria in educational missionary work.The American Committee was founded in 1897 by Waldemier "for the purpose of interesting Americans in this cherished plan for support of this hospital" (minutes, November 15, 1923). This was one of many committees he helped to form around the world for supporting the hospital.This collection contains one bound volume of minutes and tipped in reports, and a collection of related materials of loose papers.
