This collection is comprised of a single folder of miscellaneous materials attributed to Quakers in New York. Included are extracts of letters to and from Dartmouth Monthly Meeting, materials related to Stephen Buffington, descriptions of the area around E. Nottingham Meeting, and manuscripts regarding Elias Hicks. Additionally, this collection includes manuscripts that appear to have lines drawn using a mathematical compass, with biblical extracts copied around the sides. Some of these items include red wax seals in the center.

Abstract:
Compagnie de Commerce de Lorraine was founded by Duke Leopold of Lorraine in 1724, with Regard d'Aubonne as director general and Claude Regnault among its other directors, and dissolved by the 1760s. One purpose of the company was to protect commerce in the duchy from the French economic crisis precipitated by the inflation and crash of the stock of John Law's Compagnie des Indes. These 31 files include a few printed documents pertaining to the establishment of the Compagnie and numerous account calculations and documents concerning the liquidation of the Compagnie.

This collection is comprised of the two folders of materials related to a group of Quakers exiled in Virigina during the American Revolutionary War, from 1777 to 1778. The collection includes originals, photocopies, and transcripts of the materials. The materials are largely composed of correspondence, but also include decisions made by Congress, financial records of the exiles, and a single photograph of the Isaac Brown house, where Quaker exiles were held in Virginia in 1777. Includes a letter from John Hancock, 1777. The collection also includes a partial index of the materials.

Joseph W. Catharine papers regarding the Thomas W. Evans estate, 1897-1931, undated (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Joseph W. Catharine papers contain records, correspondence and legal documents dating from 1897 to 1931, which relate to the litigation of the Thomas W. Evans estate. Although Dr. Evans, a wealthy dentist, left a clear last will and testament, it took about sixteen years for his estate to be administered due to a string of legal battles between the heirs, executors and City of Philadelphia (represented by Catharine in his capacity as Assistant City Solicitor). The collection includes professional correspondence, legal notes and memoranda, formal legal documents filed by name of court, the records of the Thomas W. Evans Museum and Institute Society, and the financial records of the estate's dispensation.

Founded by brothers Stuart and Lawrence Teacher in Philadelphia in 1972, Running Press grew to be one of the most successful independent publishers in the nation by the mid-1980s. This collection represents, in the words of Stuart Teacher, "two parallel themes" in the company's history: a creativity-centric publishing philosophy and a strong, collaborative employee culture.
