Christopher Marshall (1709-1797) was born Sixth Month, 1709 in Dublin, Ireland. In 1727 or 1729, Marshall traveled to Philadelphia after being disinherited by his family. He joined the Society of Friends at Middletown in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Beginning in 1736, Marshall worked in manufacturing chemicals in Philadelphia. In 1735 or 1736, he married Sarah Thompson, and the couple had four children. He later married Abigail Fisher Cooper. In 1777, he moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He died May 4, 1797, in Philadelphia.
This collection is comprised of the single volume account book of Christopher Marshall Jr., which records the accounts of various individuals, including payments made and account balances.
