Abstract:: This collection contains a volume about "The 6," a group of six members of the class of 1934 that kept in contact with one another after graduating. There are records of their dinners between 1930 and 1971. This volume includes correspondence, newspaper clipppings, a map, wedding invitations, and pictures. A folder with correspondence pertaining to the Haverford fund and to Class of 1934 alumni is also included.

Wilmot Jones papers, 1930-1970 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This collection includes papers from Wilmot Rufus Jones's time on the Board of the Corporation of Haverford. There is also significant material from his alumni activities, particularly alumni donations and his term a the Class of 1923 Alumni Representative. These include correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, publications, and miscellaneous papers. There are similar materials from Phi Beta Kappa, as well as some correspondence and reports from his time on the Council for Delaware Education. Additionally, there is correspondence and reports from Jones's days serving on the Board of Managers and working with the Corporation of Haverford College. Materials on the Executive Committee, Committee on Committees, and the Standing Nominating Committee are included.

Abstract:: Esther B. Aresty (1908-2000) was a cookbook collector and culinary historian who wrote on food, cooking and etiquette. This collection documents Aresty's personal and professional activities, primarily through correspondence, publication drafts, and research materials regarding her books, entitled The Grand Venture (1963), The Delectable Past (1964), The Best Behavior (1970), and The Exquisite Table (1980).

Stomatological Society of Evans Dental Institute records, 1897-1964 (inclusive) 1947-1964 (bulk)

Abstract:: The Evans Dental Institute, today known as the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, was founded in 1878 as the Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery. The Stomatological Society was a professional organization based within the school, active in the middle of the twentieth century, that served to further the knowledge and interests of dentists and dental students. The collection is comprised of papers used by officers of the Stomatological Society to manage the organization. Financial documents, membership applications, secretary and treasurer's ledgers and a small amount of memorabilia comprise the bulk of the collection.

William R. Mathews papers, 1941-1964 (inclusive)

Abstract:: William R. Mathews (1893-1969) was a journalist, newspaper editor and publisher who corresponded extensively with John Foster Dulles (1888-1959), a politician who served as a United States Senator and United States Secretary of State. This collection represents years of correspondence between these two men, with occasional notes to or from one of their wives. The letters demonstrate Dulles and Mathews' friendship and mutual respect, as they discuss the political and military events that occurred between 1941 and 1957.
