William Wistar Comfort II (1938-2016) was a professor of mathematics, Quaker and graduate of Haverford College. William Wistar Comfort (1874-1955) was a professor of classics and later president of Haverford College. His work included visits to Quaker missions in China and Europe.
Collection contains letters, booklets and documenting relating to the lives of WIlliam Wistar Comfort and William Wistar Comfort II, there are volumes on genealogy of Quaker families in Pennsylvania, including the Comfort family. Letters cover a range of topics, including: schooling of William Wistar Comfort II, trips of the Comfort family to France at the start of the first World War, trips by William Wistar Comfort to Italy as an employee of the US embassy, job applications and picnic invitations of William Wistar Comfort II, letters between William Wistar Comfort II and 'Syl'.
