The collection contains correspondence, financial records, memorabilia, and other papers reflecting his career and life with his wife, Evelyn Haworth Nicholson.

Abstract:: This collection consists of 4 binders of original and copy photographs and negatives, dating from approximately 1880 to 2005, of the Swarthmore Borough, located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Many of the images were used in the book Swarthmore Illustrated: A Centennial History by Susanna K. Morikawa and Patricia C. O'Donnell (1993).

Catherine R. Belville family papers, 1950-1980 (bulk) 1855-1981 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Catherine "Kitty" Reading Belville (1897-1995) was born in Yardley, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Belville was a 1919 graduate of Swarthmore College, and established the Belville Scholarship there in 1982 in honor of her parents. Having a strong interest in history, Belville was a member of the Colonial Yardley Association (predecessor of the Yardley Historical Association). The Catherine R. Belville family papers, 1885-1981 (bulk 1950-1980), mostly consist of the personal papers of Catherine R. Belville, including correspondence, diaries, ephemera, and photographs, as well as some papers relating to the Belville family. Many of the materials relate to Belville's time as a student at Swarthmore College and her continued association with the school. Also included are materials relating to the Colonial Yardley Association, genealogy research, and Yardley history research.

Benjamin West Society Records, 1922-1975 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Inaugurated October 24, 1931, the Benjamin West Society was dedicated to promoting the arts at Swarthmore College and to promoting the memory of painter Benjamin West (1738-1820) whose traditional birthplace is on the campus of Swarthmore College. The Society organized annual lectures on art and exhibits, and each year sent its members an art print. Its activities were lead by a small group of officers, particularly New York Quaker art dealer, Frederic Newlin Price, a Swarthmore College graduate. The organization was disbanded in 1954. The Benjamin West Memorial Lecture series was continued, supported by the income from a donation made by Price.

Various sources donated the material, and the Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College made an artifical collection in 3/2005 that combined all the photos into one group.
