Abstract:: The Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is located in the lower northeast section of the city and is bordered by the Frankford Creek on the south, Castor Avenue on the west, Cheltenham Avenue on the north, and roughly the I-95 expressway on the east. Originally a village, Frankford was incorporated as a borough in 1800 and was later absorbed into the City of Philadelphia in the 1854 Philadelphia city/county consolidation. As of 2015, Frankford is a working-class neighborhood with a diverse population, including a large number of African Americans, Asian Americans, Polish Americans, Italian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and West Indian Americans. Abstract:: Frankford High School is a public high school in the School District of Philadelphia, serving the neighborhoods of Bridesburg and Frankford in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frankford High School was established in 1910 as the Northeast branch of Central High School, known as Central High School North. In 1916, the school relocated from a neighborhood farmhouse to a building at the corner of Oxford Avenue and Wakeling Street. As of 2015, Frankford High School remains located at the corner of Oxford Avenue and Wakeling Street and continues its mission "to provide all students with the academic, technological, and social skills needed to be productive and contributing members in our society." Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families papers, 1870-1970 (bulk) 1713-1998 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Ritner W. Tomlinson (1880-1949) was raised on his family's farm in the Bustleton neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ritner married Caroline F. Foehr (1890-1981) in 1911 and together they had four children: twins Isabel R. (1915-2010) and Esther R. (1915-1938), Ritner Pierson "Buddy" (1922-1944), and Thelma Claire (1924-2006). Ritner and Caroline raised their family on the Tomlinson Farm, which Ritner had inherited from his parents in the 1920s. In the mid-1930s, the Tomlinsons lost this farm due to financial difficulties, and relocated to another farm property in nearby Huntingdon Valley (Montgomery County). The Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families papers, 1713-1998 (bulk 1870-1970), consist of photographs, legal and financial documents, correspondence, diaries, ephemera, and other materials related to the Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families. The bulk of the material is from the Tomlinson family and predominately relates to Ritner W., his wife Caroline, and their children.

Abstract:: T. Comly Hunter (1848-1931) was a Frankford businessman and philanthropist. Hunter was one of the original members of the Historical Society of Frankford when it was established in 1905. The T. Comly Hunter photograph collection, late 19th century-early 20th century, consists of 1,094 late nineteenth to early twentieth century photographs, primarily of Frankford area buildings, landscapes, and street scenes, but also many images of other Northeast Philadelphia areas and some of the Greater Philadelphia region.

Abstract:: John J. Johnston worked as a messenger for George R. Stearns, the Director of Public Works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the tenure of Philadelphia Mayor, John E. Reyburn, 1907-1911. The John J. Johnston scrapbooks on the City of Philadelphia public works and administration, 1907-1911, consist of six scrapbooks compiled by John J. Johnston. The scrapbooks consist of newspaper clippings documenting the Philadelphia city administration.

Abstract:: The Keasbey and Mattison Company was a manufacturing company based in Ambler Borough, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. At one point the world's leader in asbestos manufacturing, the company became Nicolet Industries in the 1960s and was shut down in 1987. The bulk of the Edmund E. Plumley scrapbooks, 1960-1981, cover his time as an employee of Keasbey-Madison and Nicolet, with photographs and newspaper clippings depicting the factory and his coworkers.
