Abstract:

Decorative calendars have a long and varied history. Those marketed to the LGBT community began to flourish in the 1970s with the advent of the gay liberation movement. The LGBT calendar collection contains various sorts of historic calendars with an LGBT theme including those aimed at gay men which feature nude or nearly nude male models, and those that celebrate or commemorate other aspects the LGBT community.

Ed Hermance papers on Powelton Village Civic Association and Drexel University relations, 1999-2001, 1999-2001 (inclusive)

Abstract:

This collection contains material related to a spate of petty crimes in Powelton Village from 1999 to 2000, including littering, vandalism, theft, and incidents of homophobic and racist verbal harassment. These crimes were allegedly perpetrated by a small number of Drexel University students living off campus. The bulk of the collection is composed of documents from the Drexel-Powelton Alliance, formed in the wake of these incidents. It also includes correspondences between collection donor and Powelton Village resident Ed Hermance, his neighbors, and representatives at Drexel, as well as a limited amount of related press.

David Meade Walker medical records, 1975-2012 (inclusive) 1994-2012 (bulk)

Abstract:

David Meade Walker (1948-2012) was a San Francisco based artist. Diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 1988, he spent the next 24 years of his life managing his medical conditions, including AIDS-related kaposi's sarcoma and lymphoma. The bulk of the collection comprises medical correspondence, health insurance correspondence, legal and estate planning documents, and disability documents from his retirement in 1994 until his death. It also contains a small collection of posthumous material collected by his sister, Sharon Eisenhour, as well as digital storage devices containing medical imaging, personal photographs, and correspondence.

This collection consists of notes taken by Mary V. Clymer, a nurse famous for her appearance in Thomas Eakins' painting "The Agnew Clinic." Clymer was a student at the Training School for Nurses at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, from 1888 to 1889. The notes documented the variety of experiences which were part of her educational program.
