Mary Cushing (Howard) Niles (1900-1993) was a pioneer in the field of personnel management, and her husband, Henry E. Niles (1900-1993), was a management executive. Both were active in Quaker concerns. Their extensive personal and professional papers include material from several extended visits to India and work with Friends World College, Friends Conference on National Legislation, Business Executives Move for Vietnam Peace, and New Age philosophies.

Martha Deed is a retired Quaker psychologist who wrote her 1969 PhD dissertation on patterns of religious commitment among Friends. She is a prolific writer, poet, and photographer whose beliefs inform her life and work. This collection includes papers and research materials in two areas, her dissertation and her edited publication, Fritz Kunkel - The Psychology of the Whole Man.

Abstract:

Kenneth Carroll was a professor of Religious studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas beginning in 1952. He also spent a sabbatical at Haverford College as the T. Wistar Brown Fellow in 1969 and 1970 and retired to Easton, Maryland, in 1986. Carroll is a recognized authority on the history of the Society of Friends on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia and has written widely on this and other subjects. Collection primarily consists of correspondence related to Carroll's research and publications, but also includes writings and miscellaneous papers.

George B. Jackson, Swarthmore College Class of 1921, was a New York Quaker businessman. A member of New York Monthly Meeting, he was interested in family history and compiled the collection which contains farm daybooks of his great grandfather James M. Jackson of Quakertown and the memoirs of his grandfather, William Morris Jackson, Quaker businessman, reformer, and Trustee of Swarthmore College. The collection also contains genealogical information on the Jackson, Bacon, Chapin and Morris families, as well as personal correspondence and other papers.
