Overview and metadata sections
A native of the Eastern Shore, Ken Carroll's connection with Quakers began when he was 22 and studying at Duke University. His studies in history led him on to graduate work in religion and eventually to a Bachelor of Divinity. After publishing two scholarly articles, he earned his PhD in 1953. Ken was a professor of Religious studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas beginning in 1952. He spent a sabbatical at Haverford College as the T. Wistar Brown Fellow in 1969 and 1970. He retired to Easton, Maryland in 1986.
Carroll was extremely active as a Friend in Texas, serving as Clerk for the South Central Yearly Meeting as well as for his monthly meeting. He also participated in the FWCC, including a time spent as Assistant Treasurer, and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Southern Central Region of the AFSC. He joined Third Haven in 1986 and served as Clerk there for 13 years, from 1988 until 2001. Chronological correspondence files sorted by FHL staff, topical arrange by Ken C.
