"Satan's Harbinger Encountered", Undated.

Abstract:

"Satan's Harbginer Encountered, His False News of a Trumpet Detected, His Crooked Ways in the Wildernesse, laid open to the view of the impartial & judicious, Being Some thing by way of answer to Daniel Leeds his book entitled News of a Trumpet Sounding in the Wildernesse etc. wherein is shown," as indicated by the title, was a response to Daniel Leed's publication, which criticized the Society of Friends and sought to correct the accusations made by Leeds. The original manuscript was written by Caleb Pusey (1650?-1727), and published in Philadelphia in 1700, though it is unknown who copied this volume. According to a book plate on the inside cover, this volume was originally owned by Asa Matlack, and was later loaned by him to the Library of Chester Monthly Meeting, in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Female Anti-Slavery Sewing Society records, 1852-1854 (inclusive)

Abstract:

The Female Anti-Slavery Sewing Society's mission was to: "We organise ourselves a Sewing Society, for the purpose of relieving the sufferings of that class of our countrymen, who have fled from the oppression which they endured under the unjust laws of our country, and found a refuge in Canada." The minutes do not indicate location, founding or ending dates for the Society. The collection includes one book from 1852 - 1854 which begins with the mission of the society, and otherwise includes informal minutes, listings for material and financial donations given by memberships, and the number of people at each meeting.
