Abstract:
Leopold Anthony Stokowski was born April 18, 1882 in London and become one of the best-known conductors of the 20th century. Stokowski conducted symphony orchestras across the world from 1909 until his death in 1977. This collection consists of more than 200 scores that often include markings for dynamics, articulations, tempo indications, and otherr revisions of orchestration made by Stokowsi.

This collection includes correspondence (with the addition of some associated clippings and business records), which concerns the contracting and execution of the project, as well as architectural drawings from the project.

These supplementary records include applications for membership; minutes for the committees on admissions and relief and for the Musical Fund Hall; programs and other materials related to the history of Musical Fund Hall (1848-1982), including material relating to performances of soprano Jenny Lind; financial records; correspondence; histories; memorabilia; and late 20th-century records of annual meetings, special and standing committees, and the Musical Fund Society Foundation. Henry Charles Lea research collection on the Inquisition, circa 1875-1909 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Henry Charles Lea's extensive research on the Inquisition produced works of such breadth and detail that they continue to be essential references for contemporary researchers. Lea's general level of mastery of archives from all over Europe and his ability to read source material in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, French, Italian, and German, make it difficult for subsequent scholarship to rival that in his works, published over a hundred years ago. This collection contains copies of the archival material which Lea drew upon heavily in the preparation of his books. These copies, made and sent to Lea from various European archives, were donated to the University of Pennsylvania as part of Lea's library.

H. Ehlers Ahmednagar prisoner of war camp photograph album, circa 1914-1918 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Ahmednagar, a city and fort in India, was the site of one of Great Britain's prisoner of war camps during World War I. This camp held both prisoners of war and German and Austrian civilians from 1914 and 1918. This photograph album, belonging to H. Ehlers, contains 54 photographs that document life at Ahmednagar. The landscape surrounding the camp; the buildings; the inhabitants (both military and civilian prisoners); and the prisoners' pastimes, espeically sports and cultural activities are particularly well represented.

Sammlung Hogarthischer Kupferstiche (William Hogarth images, engraved by Riepenhausen), 1794 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Between 1794 and 1834, the printer Joh. Christ. Dieterich published in Göttingen a set of volumes called Ausfürliche Erklärung der Hogarthischen Kupferstiche. It included included twelve volumes of images by the English painter and egraver William Hogarth, along with popular commentaries on the images written by Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, a local Physics professor. This collection is comprised of nine of the twelve graphic volumes. The plates are "good copies" of Hogarth's originals by the German engraver Ernst Riepenhausen.
