Abstract:
Walter Hinchman's portfolio of sketches and photographs includes the many of the plates used in his book, "Sketches & Poems." The sketches were done during Hinchman's time at a machine shop in Ohio at the end of the Civil War and on a survey trip (1867-1868) for a transcontinental railway from Kansas to California. There are sketches of the Pennsylvania Steel Company (1869), animals, flowers, trees, people, and landscapes.

Catherine Morris copy book, 1815-1816 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The copy book of Catherine Morris includes a list of place names, religious and moral quotations, and an acrostic poem of the alphabet, all of which were used by Morris to practice her handwriting. The end of the volume also includes different text styles, which were labeled as Square text, Roman print, German text, and Italic print.
