Abstract:: After attending Pennsylvania State University, John H. Elfman (1912-1983) married Jean M. Kerr (1913-1955). He joined his father's business, A.C. Elfman & Sons, a building contractor firm established in Doylestown, Pa. in 1909. The largest portion of the John H. Elfman family and business papers, 1930-2012, is letters from Jean M. Kerr to her future husband, John H. Elfman, while he was away at college (1930-1934). The collection also includes records from A.C. Elfman & Sons (1935-1986), and some genealogical research and biographical notes on Elfman family members.

Abstract:: The 2008 decision to build a new Bucks County Justice Center in Doylestown, Pennsylvania was controversial. A new parking garage was built from 2008 to 2010, and construction for the new courthouse began in 2011. The Bucks County Justice Center plans, 1998-2013, include reports, correspondence, site plans, newspaper clippings, photographs, resolutions, and other documents relative to planning the construction of the justice center.

Abstract:: The R. B. Ball and Company, Inc. was incorporated in 1976 as Ball and Coffin, Inc., but changed its name in 1978. R. B. Ball and Company, Inc. sold and rented residential and commercial properties in the Jenkintown area and managed the Valleybrook Apartments. The R. B. Ball and Company, Inc. records, circa 1940-1996, are comprised of the files of Robert E. Murray, President of the Board of Directors and sales manager. The records include minutes and financial records.

Abstract:: John Buckley and Company was established by John J. Buckley (1896-1974) in 1928 as construction contractors specializing in foundations. Buckley and Co., Inc. is still active as of 2014 as a major highway and heavy contractor business located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Buckley and Co., Inc. construction photographs, 1927-1971, consist primarily of images of construction sites, but also include film negatives, and small numbers of letters, bid forms, and other documents.

Abstract:: Settled by Quakers beginning in 1680, the small town of Langhorne in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, became an important transportation center between Trenton and Philadelphia. Harvey G. Wells, a stone mason, and his son Gilbert R. Wells, a contractor and builder, were involved in a significant amount of construction in the town during its growth from the mid-19th to the early 20th century. The Wells family papers, 1845-1959, consist primarily of the business records of Harvey G. Wells and Gilbert R. Wells. Records include account books, lists of jobs and workers, daybooks, and land agreements, as well as financial papers such as cashbooks. The collection also includes some Wells family papers and ephemera.

Abstract:: Joshua M. Holmes was a builder in the Oak Lane and Cheltenham areas of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The Joshua M. Holmes papers, 1905-1926, chiefly consist of records relating to Holmes' work as a real estate developer, organized by ward. It includes estate records, land sale agreements, deeds, construction account books, ledgers, and other papers.
