Abstract:
Horace Champney was a pacifist active in various causes from the late 1940s through the 1980s. He was a founder of The Peacemakers Movement in the 1950s and interested in civil rights, war tax refusal, and other social justice causes. Champney was a member A Quaker Action Group and a crew member of the ship the Phoenix, which sailed to North Vietnam with medical supplies, during the Vietnam war.

Steve Trimm Papers, 1963-2008 (bulk)

Abstract:
In 1968 Steven Wayne Trimm was convicted for refusing induction into the armed services and served four years prison. Trimm fled to Canada in 1969 where he lived underground until 1974. Two years later he received clemency from the U.S. government under the Earned Re-entry Program and was pardoned. Steve Trimm is the author of Walking Wounded: Men's Lives During and Since the Vietnam War (1993) and other publications. Since the 1970s Steve Trimm has also been active with various peace and anti-war organizations, including Witness for Peace.

Abstract:
Dorothy Marder was a photographer and photojournalist, peace activist, Lesbian and Gay community member, counselor, and disabilities advocate. Her most extensive photographic work concerned women's peace activism (especially Women Strike for Peace), in the New York, New York area between the late 1960s through the 1980s Many of her photographs appeared in peace movement and alternative press publications. Marder photographed well-known peace activists, feminists, and political figures of the last quarter of the twentieth century including: Bella Abzug, Joan Baez, David Dellinger, Ron Dellums, Barbara Jordan, Coretta Scott King, Grace Paley, and Gloria Steinem.

Abstract:
C. Douglas Hostetter (1944 - ), has been an peace activist since the 1960s. He was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam war and performed alternative service for the Mennonite Central Committee in rural Vietnam.Following his work in Vietnam Hostetter worked for the United Methodist Church at the United Nations on international affairs. From the mid 1980s through the end of the decade Hostetter served as the executive secretary of the American Friends Service Committee in their New England regional office. He served as the Executive Secretary of the Fellowship of Reconcilation from 1987-1993. During the 1990s Hostetter was the international/interfaith secretary of the FOR and directed the Bosnian Student Project for the organization. In 2003 he was ordained as Peace Pastor at the Evanston, Illinois Mennonite Church. Since 2006 Hostetter has been the director of the Mennonite Central Committee at the United Nations. Vietnam Summer Records, 1967

Abstract:
Vietnam Summer was a nationwide project designed to reach concerned citizens throughout the United States and to weld them into an organized and active constituency against the war in Vietnam. Martin Luther King, Jr., Benjamin Spock and others launched the project nationally on April 23, 1967. From headquarters in Cambridge, Mass. co-directors Richard R. Fernandez and Lee D. Webb coordinated the efforts of 500 paid staff members and over 26,000 volunteers in about 700 local projects. Vietnam Summer officially ended on September 20, 1967.
