Abstract:: This collection consists of the papers of John Melchior Ogden, including newspaper clippings, letters and receipts, as well as notices from charitable associations such as the Carpenters' Company and the House of Refuge. Also included are letters to Charles Smith Ogden regarding the book, In Memoriam John Melchior Ogden, as well as reminiscences of Philadelphia in 1800 by Jesse Ogden, and an engraving of Fairhill Meeting House by Joseph Pennell.

John Mott papers, 1822-1851 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Contains transcriptions of John Mott's letters to family and friends and journals, probably compiled to circulate in manuscript form. Also some original letters from John Mott to his family. Mott wrote extensively on his religious views, particularly on Quaker testimony and the issues of the Hicksite separation, as well as the conflicts within Genesee Yearly Meeting which led to the separation of Congregational (Progressive) Friends. Of special interest is a draft of responses to queries dated 1851 which refers to a discipline recently adopted by Friends.

Abstract:: This collection contains information sent to Tyler Williams, agent for Shrewsbury Monthly Meeting, N.J., concerning the Asylum for the Relief of Persons Deprived of the Use of Their Reason. It includes the proposal for the Asylum, announcement of its opening, an admission certificate, and other circulars that were sent to meetings under the care of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.

Wing family papers, 1788-1857 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The collection contains journals and two commonplace books, business papers, and a few family letters. It includes a small journal written by a young woman (unknown) on a trip from New York City to Poughkeepsie, 6 month 1835; an album, 1834, which contains a list of the scholars and teachers at Nine Partners Boarding School, and an undated commonplace book containing copies of Quaker sermons and other writings. A Friends Pocket Almanac for the year 1857 contains brief notes concerning family events and Quaker meetings. Correspondence includes two letters from James Wing to his family and a letter, 1844 from M[oses?] Wanzer, Jr., of New Fairfield, Connecticut, to Joseph E. Macomber of Farmington; the two apparently had been classmates at Nine Partners School. Miscellaneous business and legal papers, 1788-1853, concern the Wing, Arnold, and Carpenter families.

Abstract:: The collection contains legal papers and business papers including indentures concerning property transferred to Lemuel Swift by Abraham Swift and his second wife, Peggy, the 1842 will of Lemuel Swift and a property deed of Swift and his wife Mercy (Wing) Swift, and their marriage. Also some miscellaneous writings including a commonplace book, ca. 1796.
