She attended Bryn Mawr College, graduating with the class of 1908 and holding the Foundation Scholarship from 1905-1908. While at school, she was highly involved in athletics, as the captain of the class hockey team and a member of the basketball and track teams, as well. After graduation, Sharpless worked part-time for a year in a Philadelphia settlement, then taught at Wykeham Rise, a girl's boarding school. She married Harvey C. Perry in 1911. Together they had 3 biological children, one of whom died young, and one adopted child. Sharpless died in 1932. The Lydia Sharpless Perry scrapbook contains Sharpless' one-volume scrapbook. The scrapbook contains material from 1903 to 1910 and contains the usual Bryn Mawr memorabilia, with an emphasis on hockey memorabilia.
