Abstract:: Mary Alice Rothrock was a Pennsylvania nurse. A graduate of Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing, her career spanned over fifty years. Rothrock's papers and scrapbook document her correspondence with a friend overseas during World War I, her involvement in politics, her membership and activities in Pennsylvania nurse organizations, and her later jobs at Clearfield Hospital and the Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Alumni Association of the Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Nursing records and historical collection, 1895-1954 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This collection contains materials documenting the development of nursing and nurse alumni groups at institutions founded by Jewish benevolent groups and organizations in Philadelphia from the 1890s through the 1990s. The historical material includes minutes, reports, administrative files, artifacts, and photographs depicting nursing and nurse education. These materials primarily concern three establishments which were merged to form the Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1952: the Jewish Hospital, established 1867; the Mt. Sinai Hospital, established in 1905; and the Northern Liberties Hospital established in 1920. (It should be noted that there are no significant records of the Northern Liberties Hospital in this collection.)

Brunner, author and educator, is a native Pennsylvanian who is known nationally and internationally for her contributions to nursing practice, particularly in the area of medical surgical nursing. This collection documents Brunner's professional nursing and writing experience and her association and membership with various institutions she attended or served.
