Richard Slater Dunn is a noted Early American Historian, who was a member of the faculty in the Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania from 1963 - 1996, and was the founder and first director of the Philadelphia Center for Early American Studies (now the McNeil Center for Early American Studies).The Richard S. Dunn Papers represent the career and achievement of the distinguished Penn faculty as teacher, author and administrator.

Abstract:
Robert E. Davies was a Benjamin Franklin Professor and University Professor who taught biochemistry in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his teaching and research, Davies was an active member of the University community through his participation in University Council and the Faculty Senate. Outside the University he was engaged with professional topics related to academic freedom, affirmative action, and quality of teaching. The Robert E. Davies Papers document his career as a member of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine, his active participation in the University Community, and his work as a researcher in biochemistry.

The Department of English Records document student essays written in the mid twentieth century. Clement and Sophie Winston family papers, 1903-1999, undated (inclusive)

Abstract:
Clement and Sophie Winston lived and worked in Washington, DC from the 1930s to the 1980s. Clement Winston (1902-1986), a Russian Jewish immigrant worked as an economist at the United States Bureau of the Budget. Sophie Zion Winston (1902-1986) was an artist who worked as an art therapist during World War II and exhibited her own artwork from the 1940s to 1960s. This collection documents the couple's personal and professional lives through their creative and professional writings, correspondence, and household accounts, dating from 1903 to 1999.

Biddle family papers, 1709-2017 (inclusive) 1776-1952 (bulk)

Abstract:
The Biddle family has a long history on American land with Quaker ancestors emigrating in 1681 and settling in Philadelphia around 1725. This collection documents the family relationships, and to a lesser extent, the work and military service of six generations of one branch of that family, starting with Clement Biddle (1740-1814), and following the descendants of two of his sons: Thomas Alexander Biddle (1776-1857) and Clement Cornell Biddle (1784-1855). These papers tell the stories, to varying degrees, of more than 30 individual Biddle family members through correspondence, financial records, professional papers, diaries, scrapbooks, and photographs.

Abstract:
Joseph (Joe) Eyer (1944-2017) was a scholar from Philadelphia whose research focused on social causes and health effects of stress. This collection includes Eyer's writings (both published and unpublished) on medicine, mental illness, and socio-economic issues related to stress; course material from his doctoral program in biology at the University of Pennsylvania; and letters to and collaborative engagement with his colleagues, in particular, Jeremy Brecher, Ingrid Waldron, and Peter Sterling. This collection documents the Philadelphia scholars' research on topics including mortality, addiction, suicide, ecology, physiology, and sex.
