Abstract:: According to the note on the inside cover of "Essays in Prose and Verse," the essays and poetry inside were written by Samuel Morris when he was 13, and again later when he was a student at Haverford College in 1843. This volume is a copy of the original, and is copied by Beulah S. Morris, who wrote this copy as a gift for her father, on his 55th birthday, in 1846. The volume is largely comprised of poetry, but also includes short stories and personal essays related to family, nature, travel, and religion.

Abstract:: Mary Pennington's autobiographical manuscript includes descriptions of her early life, the events leading up to her convincement (conversion to Quakerism), her attendance at Quaker meetings, a description of her marriage and her husband (Isaac Pennington), a description of her husband's family (particularly his mother), a description of a battle at London between "Parliment and the King" at Houndslow-heath, and a description of the English Civil War and upheaval it caused.

Abstract:: The biography of Benjamin Seebohm describes his early life and education in Germany, and the influence of Quakerism in his young life, particularly the religious visit of Stephen Grellet. The biography also describes Seebohm's travels as a Quaker minister throughout Europe and Great Britain, and includes quoted extracts from Seebohm's journals and letters.

Caleb Raper commonplace book, 1711

Abstract:: The commonplace book of Caleb Raper is religious in nature, and contains copied bible verses, religious poetry, prayers, and letters. According to the notes on the first and last pages of the volume, the original commonplace book, written in Caleb Rapper's hand, was written in 1711. This volume was copied in 1747 by Raper's nephew, Richard Smith. There is also a single photocopy.

Abstract:: This collection is comprised of two manuscripts collected by James Whitall. "From the Wabash to the Delaware", Undated.

Abstract:: Thomas Raeburn White wrote this manuscript for his children and their descendants. The volume begins with a brief genealogical history of White's ancestors, who came from England or Scotland, and initially settled in the Carolinas. White describes how the family migrated to Indiana when his father was a child, in search of a more religiously tolerant community, and provides brief family history for his mother and father. White also describes his childhood, early education, Quaker experiences, college years at Earlham College, and business endeavors in adulthood.
