Abstract:
The Main Line Board of Realtors listings, 1949-1990, consists of real estate listing cards organized alphabetically by street name. The listing cards in this collection were maintained by James T. Shilcock (1919-2011), owner of Shilcock Realty Company. The township of Lower Merion in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was first settled by Welsh Quakers in 1682. It is part of the "Main Line," a collection of affluent Philadelphia suburbs located alongside the Pennsylvania Railroad line that was built between Philadelphia and Harrisburg in the mid-19th century.

The Lower Merion Historical Society clippings (vertical) files, 1874-2011, contain newspaper clippings, pamphlets, photographs, and other secondary materials. The subjects range from local topics, such as geographical areas in and around Lower Merion, churches, schools, and notable residents; to topics of wider significance, such as John Dickinson, the Civil War, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. The township of Lower Merion in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was first settled by Welsh Quakers in 1682. Abstract:
The Autocar Company was founded as a manufacturer of commercial passenger vehicles circa 1897 in Pittsburgh and moved to Ardmore, Pennsylvania in 1900. During the first and second World Wars, the company focused on producing military vehicles. The company was still in operation as of 2011, although it was owned by Volvo and no longer located in Ardmore. The Lower Merion Historical Society Autocar Company ephemera collection, 1912-2011, is composed of photographs and ephemera relating to the Autocar Company. It includes photographs, brochures, advertisements, department memos, employee handbooks, newsletters, and newspaper articles.

LMHS.20: Descendants of Pierre Pechin papers, circa 1870-1969

Abstract:
Pierre Pechin, a French Huguenot, came to the United States in 1754. His family were prosperous tanners who lived and worked in the Lower Merion area of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Centuries later, family members formed a group, the Descendants of Pierre Pechin, which met annually for memorial services and reunions at St. Paul's Church. The Descendants of Pierre Pechin papers, circa 1870-1969, consist of photographs, newspaper clippings, a scrapbook of obituaries, and pamphlets for the annual memorial service and family reunion.

Richard Rothe photographs and diaries, 1895-1930 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Internationally-known horticulturalist Richard Herman Rothe was the developer of what he called the "American rock garden." The Richard Rothe photographs and diaries, 1895-1930, consist of 250 lantern slides and color prints of garden views of Pennsylvania estates in eastern Montgomery County, Philadelphia, and the western Main Line as well as family scenes and views on Mount Desert Island, Maine. The collection also contains copies and originals of some of Rothe's diaries, photocopies of articles he published, and research materials on him.

Musical Coterie of Wayne records, 1911-2012 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Musical Coterie of Wayne (Delaware County, Pennsylvania), established in 1911 and still active as of 2014, began as a women's choral group that performed in the homes of members. Its first public performance was held at the Saturday Club in Wayne in 1914, spawning the group's tradition of holding annual spring and winter concerts. In 1926, the group started the Junior Coterie as a means of fostering musical interest among children; in 1953 an orchestral section of the Coterie was formed, called the Coterie Strings. The Musical Coterie of Wayne (Pa.) records, 1911-2012, contain administrative, financial, and membership records, as well as scrapbooks, photographs, printed material, and other items documenting the group's history.

Radnor Historical Society map, atlas, and blueprint collection, 1872-2014 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Radnor Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania was founded in 1682, shortly after Welsh Quakers arrived on the lands previously home to the original inhabitants, the Lenni Lenape Indians. Development in the area increased when new transportation routes passed through the area, first the Lancaster Turnpike (the first toll road in America) in 1794, and then the Columbia (later Pennsylvania) Railroad in 1832. The township's population doubled between 1880 and 1890 with the birth of one of the country's first planned suburban developments, Wayne. Development and population boomed again in the wake of World War II and has continued to grow in the 21st century. The Radnor Historical Society map, atlas, and blueprint collection, 1872-2014, consists of several dozen atlases (including railroad maps, business atlases, property atlases, and other atlases); loose maps; and blueprints for private homes and for businesses. "The Suburban and Wayne Times" photographs, 1972-2007 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Suburban and Wayne Times was a newspaper covering local news, sports, business, entertainment, and other topics of interest in the "Main Line" of western Philadelphia suburbs from Bala Cynwyd to Malvern. The paper was published from 1885 until 2009, when Main Line Media News, the parent company of the Suburban and Wayne Times and Main Line Life, merged the two papers to form the new periodical Main Line and Suburban Life. The Suburban and Wayne Times photographs, 1972-2007, consist of prints, contact sheets, and negatives of photographs taken by the Suburban and Wayne Times for possible publication in the newspaper.
