Abstract:: This collection is composed of the single handwritten letterbook of Cornelia Blow. The volume is comprised of personal correspondence primarily addressed to Blow's mother and father on her travels through Europe with her traveling companion Meade between the dates of November, 1862 and May, 1863. Additionally included are a copy of a letter from Blow's mother addressed to Blow and one pressed fern. Letters are written from a variety of European locations including Liverpool, Paris, Bordeaux, Marseilles, Rotterdam, and Rome. Topics covered in Blow's correspondence include descriptions of her travels, the health of herself and Meade, messages for family members at home, food, and the ongoing American Civil War.
