Abstract:: Bristol Borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, became an important area due to its location along the Delaware River, a major land route, and subsequent rail line linking Philadelphia and New York City. Incorporated in 1720, it served as the county seat from 1705 to 1726. The Bristol History small collections, 1749-2013, consist of various individual manuscript volumes and small collections relating to the people, businesses, properties, and organizations of Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Of special interest are Doron Green and William Kinsey scrapbooks, and a collection of William Bache papers.

Merrick company records, 1831-1922 (inclusive)

Abstract:: W. Aubrey Merrick (1885-1962), owner of W. Aubrey Merrick, Real Estate and Insurance, was a realtor in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His company succeeded the Merrick agency that he inherited from his father, John S. Merrick (1831-1907), and uncle, who were Newtown surveyors and conveyancers. The Merrick company records, 1831-1922, largely consist of bound volumes of property surveys, insurance records, survey maps, and surveying notebooks. The collection also includes Merrick family genealogy volumes and papers.

Abstract:: Newtown, the county seat of Bucks County from 1726 to 1813, is one of the most historic areas in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Although it is unknown when the first school in Newtown was established, public and private schools flourished during the 19th century. In 1946, as mandated by the Commonwealth, Newtown became part of the extensive Council Rock School District. The Newtown Historic Association collection on Newtown schools, 1764-2013 (bulk 1900-2013) consists of records of the School Board, including minute books, account books, and treasurer's records. There are also a significant number of photographs of buildings, activities, students, and graduating classes as well as a collection of photographs of most of the one room school houses in Bucks County.

Abstract:: Perkasie is located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania midway between Philadelphia and Allentown. The site of William Penn's 'Perkasie Manor,' the town was incorporated in 1879 and by the turn of the century had become the third largest station on the North Penn railroad line. The Perkasie Historical Society local history collection, 1848-2000, consists of various materials including scrapbooks, deeds, maps, business and organizational records, personal papers, receipts and invoices, and other documents relating to the people and organizations based in and around Perkasie, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Wells family papers, 1845-1959 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Settled by Quakers beginning in 1680, the small town of Langhorne in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, became an important transportation center between Trenton and Philadelphia. Harvey G. Wells, a stone mason, and his son Gilbert R. Wells, a contractor and builder, were involved in a significant amount of construction in the town during its growth from the mid-19th to the early 20th century. The Wells family papers, 1845-1959, consist primarily of the business records of Harvey G. Wells and Gilbert R. Wells. Records include account books, lists of jobs and workers, daybooks, and land agreements, as well as financial papers such as cashbooks. The collection also includes some Wells family papers and ephemera.

Abstract:: Hannah B. Lester (b. 1815) was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) who lived in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Abram Carn was the proprietor of a general store and post office in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. The Carn-Buchanan family papers, 1817-1897, are made up of personal correspondence of Hannah B. Lester and three receipt books attributed to Abram Carn and an unknown person with the surname Donut.

William L. Lathrop papers, 1741-2000s

Abstract:: William Langson Lathrop (1859-1938) was an artist, teacher, and sailor. He helped establish the artists colony in New Hope, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. When he was not working on his own art or teaching others, he would sail on his boat The Widge. William L. Lathrop papers, 1741-2000s, consist of both original Lathrop papers and materials about him that were created or collected by his descendants. Materials include personal and professional/exhibition-related correspondence, exhibition materials, diaries, photographs, slides, scrapbooks, newspaper and magazine clippings, genealogical research on the Lathrop family, artworks, and other materials. There are some 18th century documents from the Langson family. Several items relate to Lathrop's boat, The Widge.

Borough municipal records, 1730 to 1998, consist of Borough Council meeting minutes, roll books, ordinances, and financial records. Abstract:: An altruistic and benevolent fraternal organization, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.), which was originally organized in England in the 18th century, was started by Thomas Wildey in the United States in 1819. Hopkins Lodge No. 87, located in Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was organized in 1843. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Hopkins Lodge No. 87 (Bristol, Pa.) records, 1843-1982, consist primarily of minute books and ledgers, and a Junior 3 Link Club minute book and Link Club membership forms. Also included in the collection is a Washington Hall Association of the Borough of Bristol minute book.
