Abstract:: Dr. Douglas Macfarlan (1887-1966) was a resident of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and a physician. He was also an avid local historian who served as president of the Lower Merion Historical Society, and contributed articles and drawings to Main Line Times in addition to publishing several historical monographs. The Notes and Drawings by Dr. Douglas Macfarlan, 1937-1964, consist of research notes, newspaper clippings, copies of articles, and original and copied photographs for various historical monographs by Macfarlan.

Abstract:: The Lower Merion School District was the first in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania to apply for establishing free "common" public schools under legislation passed in Harrisburg in 1834. The Lower Merion School District was established in 1836. As of 2011, it still serves the needs of the students of Lower Merion Township as well as the Borough of Narberth, and includes nine schools. The Lower Merion Historical Society school ephemera collection, 1927-2011, is made up of various items produced by schools, students, and teachers. It includes a large number of school newspapers, yearbooks, photographs, and event programs.

During the first and second World Wars, the company focused on producing military vehicles. The company was still in operation as of 2011, although it was owned by Volvo and no longer located in Ardmore. The Lower Merion Historical Society Autocar Company ephemera collection, 1912-2011, is composed of photographs and ephemera relating to the Autocar Company. It includes photographs, brochures, advertisements, department memos, employee handbooks, newsletters, and newspaper articles.

Abstract:: Pierre Pechin, a French Huguenot, came to the United States in 1754. His family were prosperous tanners who lived and worked in the Lower Merion area of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Centuries later, family members formed a group, the Descendants of Pierre Pechin, which met annually for memorial services and reunions at St. Paul's Church. The Descendants of Pierre Pechin papers, circa 1870-1969, consist of photographs, newspaper clippings, a scrapbook of obituaries, and pamphlets for the annual memorial service and family reunion.
