Fetter family papers, circa 1880s-1984

Abstract:
Sometime prior to 1754, Casper W. Fetter (1726-1779) emigrated from Germany and established a farm in what would become Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. His many descendants, several of whom had strong ties to the Southampton Baptist Church in Southampton, Bucks County, became farmers in Bucks and Montgomery counties during the 18th and 19th centuries. The Fetter family papers, circa 1880s-1984, contain photographs, letters, genealogy research, newspaper clippings, vital records, and other materials that document the Fetter family, its history, and other families, including the Leedom, Montanye, and Lefferts families, whose members married into the Fetter family. There are also materials that document the Southampton Baptist Church. The materials were collected by Claude K. Fetter (1901-1984), a direct descendant of Casper W. Fetter.

Abstract:
Ralph Beaver Strassburger (1883-1959) was a prominent businessman, newspaper owner, diplomat, and Thoroughbred racehorse breeder. His wife, May Bourne, was heiress to the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Strassburger was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and bought the Normandy Farm property in nearby Gwynedd Valley in 1913. This bulk of this collection is photographs of the Strassburger family and Normandy Farm estate (interior and exterior), circa 1880-1940. It also contains one letter from 1863, one postcard from 1932, and an auction catalog and history of Normandy Farm from 1994.

James Harvey Gravell started the American Chemical Paint Company in 1914 and moved the factory to Ambler, Pennsylvania soon after. He was an engineer, innovator, and philanthropist who made national headlines for paying off all his employees' debts and mortgages for Christmas in 1936. After Gravell's death, his company was renamed Amchem Products, Inc., and was acquired by Henkel in 1980. Amchem Products, Inc. records, 1925-1986, consist of administrative records, photographs, and company publications.
