It contains primarily subject files, correspondence, and audio and visual materials generated by the organization during the period of time it was headquartered at Lehigh University, as well as some of Beedle's personal files.

Abstract:: The Socialist Review records collection houses correspondence, financial records, administrative records, manuscripts, and publications dating from 1966 to 2002. This collection relates to the daily operations of the leftist periodical Socialist Review (titled Socialist Revolution prior to 1978, and Radical Society: Review of Culture and Politics after 2002), and the collectives that formed its editorial staff. Manuscript submissions make up the bulk of the collection. Overall, this collection offers insight into the inner workings of one of the New Left movement’s most important publications, Socialist Review. Many prominent leftist intellectuals associated with the publication are represented in these files: Noam Chomsky, Barbara Ehrenreich, and Barbara Epstein, among many others. Machteld J. Mellink papers, 1938-2006 (inclusive) 1958-2001 (bulk)

Abstract:: Machteld Johanna Mellink, celebrated archaeologist and professor of archaeology at Bryn Mawr College from 1949 to 1988, was born in Amsterdam, Holland in 1917. She received her BA in 1938 and MA in 1941 from the University of Amsterdam, and her PhD from the University of Utrecht in 1943. The Machteld Mellink papers cover Professor Mellink's academic and archaeological career from the late 1950s to the early 2000s. Included in the collection are her writings and notes, photographs, publications, and a few excavation tools. Researchers interested in her academic career, as well as her work related to excavation sites such as Kızılbel, Tarsus, and Sardis, will find valuable information in this collection. However, this collection does not provide particularly strong insight into archaeological history, nor Professor Mellink's thought process when approaching archaeological issues. Bryn Mawr College photo archives inventory, 1885-2000s

Extent:: 53 linear ft.
Abstract:: The Photo Archives comprises photographs, slides, transparencies, and negatives depicting the history of Bryn Mawr College from 1885 to the early 2000s. The majority of prints are in black-and-white, though there are a few in color from the late 1960s through the 1980s. Older prints range from carte-de-visite, cabinet cards, cyanotypes and some other early photomechanical processes. Photos are organized in three sub-collections: People; Buildings and Campus; and Events and Groups. The sub-collection People contains photos of notable and miscellaneous persons from the College. The Buildings group includes images of past and current campus buildings, including exterior and interior views. The Events and Groups sub-collection comprises events, campus happenings, and student life. There are also portraits of early alumnae, yearbook photographs, Bi-Co news photographs, and images from the Summer School of Women Workers in Industry (SSWWI). Abstract:: Evelyn Feldman was the longtime Keeper of the Marianne Moore Papers at the Rosenbach Museum & Library in Philadelphia. In 2001 the Rosenbach named her Keeper Emeritus. The Evelyn Feldman (Marianne Moore) papers include research notes and various materials associated with exhibits of the collection and related events at the Rosenbach.

Deanery Files, Bryn Mawr College, 1917-2010 (inclusive) 1980-1991 (bulk)

Abstract:: The Deanery was the home of the first Dean and second President of Bryn Mawr College, M. Carey Thomas, from 1885 to 1933. From 1933 until 1968, when the building was demolished for the construction of Canaday Library, the building served as the college's Alumnae Center and Inn. The collection is comprised primarily of Deanery records, mostly inventories of the building, and the files of Carol Campbell, Curator of Art and Artifacts in Bryn Mawr College's Special Collections

Margot Wells Backas and James J. Backas papers, 1970-2004 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Margot and Jim Backas were strong supporters of the arts in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area. They held numerous leadership and administrative positions in various arts organizations. Margot was artist Anne Truitt's literary executor and good friend. Included in this collection are letters from Truitt, newspaper clippings and advertisements for art exhibits.
