Abstract:: The Socialist Review records collection houses correspondence, financial records, administrative records, manuscripts, and publications dating from 1966 to 2002. This collection relates to the daily operations of the leftist periodical Socialist Review (titled Socialist Revolution prior to 1978, and Radical Society: Review of Culture and Politics after 2002), and the collectives that formed its editorial staff. Manuscript submissions make up the bulk of the collection. Overall, this collection offers insight into the inner workings of one of the New Left movement’s most important publications, Socialist Review. Many prominent leftist intellectuals associated with the publication are represented in these files: Noam Chomsky, Barbara Ehrenreich, and Barbara Epstein, among many others. Abstract:: The Library records contains documentation of the Drexel University Library from its creation in 1891 to 2003. Drexel University Library has been housed in three different buildings; the Main Building (1891-1958), the Korman Center (1959-1982) and W.W. Hagerty Library (1983-2010). The library was also responsible for running the library school until 1962, with the exception of the years 1914 to 1922 when the library school was suspended. The documents in this collection constitute a record of the activities of the directors, the internal library departments, and the intensive planning of the form and function of the two library buildings.

Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia Board of Trustees records, 1976-1989 (bulk) 1925-1990 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (ANSP) is a natural history museum which was founded in 1812, “for the encouragement and cultivation of the sciences, and the advancement of useful learning.” The ANSP Board of Trustees, was established in 1925, as one of the institution’s primary administrative bodies. The Board of Trustees was charged with establishing financial policies, selecting the Academy President, assisting with fund raising and community relations, and serving as a board of review. This collection of Trustees records dating from 1925 to 1990 contains minutes and correspondence of various Board committees, policies and procedures, departmental activity reports, annual meetings and files from the President's office related to board matters.

Philadelphia General Hospital (PGH) Training School for Nurses Miscellaneous Collection, 1918-2006 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This artificial collection contains miscellaneous small donations related to the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing. They were primarily given by alumni over a period of many years, but some items are of unknown provenance. Teaching Nursing Home Program records, 1981-1987 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Teaching Nursing Home Program sheds light on the innovated national project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and administered by the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Nursing to improve nursing home care for the elderly, develop university nursing education, and inspire nurses to explore gerontology. Documents include project correspondence, minutes, annual reports, and other administrative records. It also includes the individual universities’ reports and findings during their funded years as well as the unfunded applications of other universities.

Abstract:: The Association of Community Health Nursing Educators (ACHNE) works to identify and explore issues and policy relevant to public health nursing graduate education, including creating recommendations and assisting in the development of quality graduate education programs, and to stimulate research in community health and public health nursing. These records include meeting minutes of board and annual meetings, organizational materials such as by-laws, membership lists, financial records, membership mailings, presentations and papers, correspondence, and publications.

Presbyterian School of Nursing records, 1871-1988 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This collection documents the founding, flourishing and eventual closing of the Presbyterian School of Nursing, a hospital-based nursing school in Philadelphia. The hospital itself was founded in 1871 under the sponsorship of the Presbyterian Church. Its nurse training program was begun in 1889. The collection's strength is the relative completeness of student records, good documentation of the school's curricula and teaching materials. The supportive role both the Ladies Aid Society and the Alumni Association played in the growth of the School are evident in these records.
