Abstract:: C. Marshall (Caleb Marshall) Taylor (1884-1957) was a Quaker businessman and book collector, of Montclair, New Jersey. His particular interest was the Quaker poet and abolitionist, John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892). This collection contains chiefly of copies and transcripts of Whittier papers not held by Friends Historical Library, as well as printed Whittier writings, articles on Whittier, and other reference material.

Abstract:: Margaretta Walton (1829-1904), eminent Quaker minister of Ercildoun, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The collection contains diaries and correspondence of Walton and her husband, Jesse Pusey Walton; business papers and memorabilia; sermons; and related papers. Also included in the collections are journals (1836-1853) of her father, Joseph Shoemaker Walton, who was companion to several Quaker ministers.

Abstract:: This collection traces several generations of the Quaker Taylor family, but centers on Francis R. Taylor (1884-1947) and George Washington Taylor (1803-1891). The former was an attorney and collector of information about his own and related families, as well as local historical information. The latter, who ran a free produce store in Philadelphia in the period before the American Civil War, was connected through his interests in free labor to many correspondents.

Abstract:: This collection consists of Quaker music written by David Proskauer. It contains both handwritten and printed works, notably A Young Woman's Quaker Life, which feautures the poem Barbara Fretchie by John Greenleaf Whittier, and Proskauer's Quaker Voices: A Cantata, which features poems such as First Day Thoughts by John Greenleaf Whittier, Draw Breath by Geoffrey Weedon, Psalm 139 v. 1-7, Sonnet for a Quaker Wedding by Kenneth Boulding, and Faith by John Gould Fletcher. He's also included various handwritten works of his, such as A Living Silence, The Pacifist, The Light Within, and At the Foot of Monument Mountain.
