Abstract:
Phyllis Pray Bober (b. 1920) received her B.A. from Wellesley College in 1941. In 1973 she accepted the position of Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Bryn Mawr College which she held until 1980. Bober's life long interest in culinary history led to courses, "historical banquets", and a book: Art, Culture, and Cuisine: Ancient and Medieval Gastronony. The collection consist of miscellaneous materials on Bober's career, miscellaneous research notes, typescripts, materials course notes, lecture scripts, correspondence (organized by subject matter), miscellaneous correspondence filed chronologically, tapes and disks for her talks, and materials from her own graduate and undergraduate education.

Lucy T. Shoe Meritt papers, 1888-2003 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Lucy T. Shoe Meritt (1906- 2003) was an acclaimed archaeologist, scholar, teacher and editor who received her B.A, M.A, and Ph.D degrees from Bryn Mawr. During her life time, Shoe Meritt taught at Mount Holyoke College and the University of Texas at Austin, was a fellow at the American Academy of Rome, and served as the Editor of Publications for the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. Additionally, she was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study and the American Institute of Archaeology. She received the Gold Medal of the Archaeological Institute of America for Distinguished Archaeological Achievement in 1976. The collection is largely comprised of Shoe Meritt's correspondence with her family and notable scholars who were her contemporaries. It also includes diaries, publications, academic and professional papers, as well as photographs, postcards and scrapbooks.

Abstract:
James Wood (1839-1925) was "interested in education, philanthropy, in the various branches of agriculture, in archaeology, history, Indian lore, anthropology, science, in prison reform and above all, in the Bible and religion," (ABS, 2). He was also a business man, serving as President of the Genesee Salt Company in Piffard, New York. The James Wood papers are divided into twelve series: "Biographical Material:" "Agriculture;" Business and Financial Material;" "Collected Quaker Material;" "Correspondence;" "Hugh Barbour Writings and Talks regarding James Wood;" "Journals;" "Organizations;" "Photographs and Albums;" "Political Involvement;" Prison Reform;" and lastly, "Writings by James Wood." This collection contains many materials, including correspondence, photographs, record books, awards, and printed material such as newspapers and pamphlets. Dorothy Burr Thompson (1900 – 2001) was a prominent archaeologist who graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1923. She specialized in Greek terracotta. Burr Thompson and her husband, Homer A. Thompson, were both heavily involved with the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. The collection includes her diaries, personal correspondence, and professional papers. It also includes contains both personal and research related photographs and postcards.

Andrew H. Woods papers, 1885-1956 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Andrew H. Woods (1872 – 1956) became vice president of Canton College in Guangzhou, China in 1899. He maintained his association with Canton Christian College throughout the Boxer Rebellion, or Yihetuan Movement, and the end of the Qing dynasty. Woods moved back and forth between China and the United States with his wife, Fanny Sinclair, who graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1901. In 1929, the couple and their children settled in Iowa. In Iowa, Woods worked as a professor and practitioner of neurology and psychology. Andrew H. Woods' papers include diaries which describe his personal life and professional life in China and in the United States, photographs and postcards, much of Agnes Sinclair's personal correspondence, his articles, and various papers.

Katharine Shepard (1905-1986) attended Bryn Mawr College in the late 1920s and early 1930's, and received degrees in Latin, Classical Archaeology, and Greek. She went on to a career in archaeology, and was employed by the National Gallery of Art. The Katharine Shepard Papers contains letters to and from her family and friends, primarily from her many trips abroad, as well as a few family momentos.

Marion Edwards Park papers, 1922-1942 (inclusive)

Marion Edwards Park (1975-1960) graduated Bryn Mawr College in 1898. After continuing her studies at the University of Chicago, American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Colorado College, and Johns Hopkins University, she earned her PhD in classics from Bryn Mawr College in 1918. As president of Bryn Mawr College (1922-1942), she significantly increased enrollment, broadened the curriculum, and expanded cooperation with Haverford, Swarthmore, and the University of Pennsylvania. The Marion Edwards Park Papers consist mainly of the subject files and correspondence.
