Overview and metadata sections

A groundbreaking report on contemporary sexual practice and morals"Towards a Quaker View of Sex" was compiled by a group of eleven British Friends who began to meet on the concern in 1957. While not endorsed by the Religious Society of Friends, the Friends Home Service Committee published the booklet on behalf of the Working Group. Released in 1963, it was the first report by a religious body to express a positive view toward homosexuality, and it was (and remains) controversial in the Society of Friends. When published, it was met with local and international media attention. Keith Wedmore, now a retired barrister and active member of Pacific Yearly Meeting, was a member of the Quaker Committee on Homosexuality and Other Problems of Sex.He managed the finances and collaborated on writing the 1963 report.
