The Women's Association of Philadelphia for the Relief of the Freedman was founded in 1862 for the collection and distribution of clothing, medicines, and dry goods for the relief of formerly enslaved people. Though many Quakers were involved in the Association, it was not officially connected to the Society of Friends.
