Overview and metadata sections
Little is known about this cookbook's primary creator, Elise Walter, other than that she was active in Frankenthal, Germany in 1910.
B.G. Rohrbacker, the contributor of this volume's English recipes, lived at 5003 Atlantic Ave, Panther, Pennsylvania.
This cookbook contains 231 recipes written in German by Elise Walter in Frankenthal, Germany in 1910. There are an additional 13 recipes that appear to be later additions written in English by B.G. Rohrbacker in Panther, Pennsylvania.
The volume has original reinforced paper covers with damage to the binding. Much of the volume was used, but there are some blank pages (p. 130-136, 145-147). The volume was completed by at least two hands, including that of Elise Walter who contributed recipes in German (p. 1-120) and B.G. Rohrbacker who contributed recipes in English (p. 124, 126-129, 163, 165, 187, 193). There is an alphabetical index (p. 148-192) and an advertisement of Aunt Sarah's oven by the Jacks Evans Manufacturing Co. laid in (p. 193).
Examples of German recipes include riffoto (p. 6), schweinenbraten (p. 11), chocolade-pudding (p. 31), sause diplomat (p. 50), tomaten (p. 63), caccaeau (p. 92), and sause tartare (p. 94).
Examples of English recipes include Devil crab (p. 124), chillie sauce (p. 124), cold slaw (p. 163), and fudge (p. 193).
