Overview and metadata sections

This volume's creator is unknown.

Locations given in the clippings pasted into this volume indicate that it was probably created in New England. The vast majority of the clippings originate in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. There are additionally two clippings with wedding announcements from Auburn, Maine. The couples in the wedding announcements are not related to eachother.

This volume contains 70 culinary recipes, 15 medicinal recipes, and 5 household recipes and was compiled by an unknown creator in the United States, probably in New England, between 1916 and 1932.

The culinary recipes are both handwritten and on clippings from unidentified newspapers. The majority of the clippings also provide an attribution and location for the recipe. Examples of the culinary recipes include lobster stew (p. 1), hot apple sauce cake (p. 4), Jeanette molasses cookies (p. 7), popcorn pudding (p. 11), war oatmeal bread (p. 17), fine fudge (p. 42), and sweet tomatoes pickles (p. 47).

The recipes for medicinal remedies and cures and household products are all pasted in clippings. Examples of medicinal remedies (p. 98-99) include those for croup cough, tired eyes, neuralgia, sore throat, chilblain, whooping cough, and lockjaw. Examples of household recipes (p. 100) include those for hanging laundry and to get rid of red ants, moths, and stains.
