Overview and metadata sections
A red volume with ruled pages comprised of culinary recipes written by an unnamed author in England. The recipes were probably written between the years spanning 1850 to 1870. The recipes reflect English and Indian cuisine. Culinary recipes include cakes, chutneys, creams, curries, desserts, egg dishes, jams, mutton dishes, picklings, poultry dishes, puddings, sauces, and scones. Highlights include almond, arrowroot, potato, and seed cakes; Bengal, Colonel Skinner's, date, Dilkusha, Kashmir, and sukat chutneys; cabbage and Bengal curries; Bombay, cinnamon, potato and meat, ratafia, and roly-poly puddings; blancmanges; dough nuts; floating island; meat porcupine; and tamarind preserves. Reading the volume from back to front are gardening instructions for plants such as cyclamens and fuchsias. Several pages throughout the volume are detached.
