Overview and metadata sections

This thin paper covered volume compiled by M. A. Prideaux in 1820 comprises medicinal, household, and culinary recipes along with a copy of a sermon. The volume was probably written in England. The handwritten recipes are written inside a pre-printed blank volume with the title heading An account of gunner's stores supplied to his Majesty's Commander. The covers have printed titles: Supplies on the front and Returns, &c on the back. Each page has printed columns with the headings place, date, by whom, articles, and quantity printed at the top. The handwritten recipes within the columns consist of culinary, household, and medicinal formulas. Balsams, drops, liniments, pills, plasters, quinine, and syrups provide remedies for cough, headache, heartburn, and hysteria. A few commercial items are included such as Barclay's anti-bilious pills and Norten's drops. Numerous formulas for the household include blackening, dyes, ink, sympathetic inks, silvering a mirror, and wood varnishes. There are several recipes involving uses for phosphorus including fire from water, light, and luminous writing. Culinary recipes include mead, pickling, preserving fruit, tapioca, vinegar, and wine. A few observations on perception are included. A copy of a sermon entitled "Sermon from 2nd Corinthians Chap. 5th, v 1st" translated from French and originally delivered by Rev. Theodore Huet at the Hague in 1725 is written on five pages in the volume. The signature of M. A. Prideaux appears twice on the title page and within the volume. The name Nicolas Brutinex is also written on the cover.
